About Me:

Hamoun Dolatshahi

Received his bachelor's in communication at UCSD in 2017 and is currently a 4th-year graduate student in the MFA program in Directing and Producing at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television (anticipated completion in 2023). Hamoun’s work is the humanist projection of Iranian/Kurdish identity and the navigation of cultures in the diaspora.

He has directed three short films, one TV pilot, and two music videos. He has worked on various indie and student films as a Producer and Assistant Director. More recently, he experienced a Hollywood production by his assistant work on A24/Netflix show called BEEF.

Hamoun is also an active community advocate, dedicated to organizing politically within refugee and immigrant communities to support social justice. Hamoun sees the power of media to tell important stories as a vital tool in these efforts and believes art needs to actively prioritize and be involved in the day-to-day struggles and experiences of real people.
